Classmates.com does it again (and not in a good way)

Last year I had to rant how Classmates.com nickels and dimes its users. While every other social networking site (at least that I've seen) doesn't charge its members to read messages, Classmates.com does just that. So, if have a free membership (as I did) and some long lost high school friend decides to contact you out of the blue, you can't even read his or her message until you pay up for a "gold membership." As if.

So after thinking about it I decided to cancel my membership completely. Now, here's where it gets really good. While there appeared to be an online option for canceling, I kept receiving an "internal service error" instead. After a few tries I was successful only after I e-mailed a representative. But if you're a "gold member" your only option is ask the Classmates customer service team to remove you.

To me, none of these policies make Classmates customer friendly or easy to use. I contacted Classmate's media representative in November for comment, but so far I've heard nothing. And to top it all off I got spam from the company today. And nowhere on the e-mail is there an option to "unsubscribe". Argh!
