iPhone and iPod touch: Sync limitation to Microsoft Outlook Contacts with non-cached Exchange mode

IPHONE AND IPOD TOUCH: SYNC LIMITATION TO MICROSOFT OUTLOOK CONTACTS WITH NON-CACHED EXCHANGE MODE

* Last Modified on: January 25, 2008

* Article: 307382

Issue Or Symptom

When Microsoft Outlook is configured for non-cached Exchange mode, syncing your Outlook Contacts to iPhone or iPod touch can result in only syncing about 536 Outlook contacts to the device.

Products Affected

* iPhone
* iPod touch
* Microsoft Outlook 2003
* Microsoft Outlook 2007
* Windows XP and Windows Vista

Solution

Please refer to Microsoft Outlook Office Assistant or Outlook Help on how to configure cached Exchange mode in Microsoft Outlook for your Microsoft Exchange Server account. When an Outlook account is configured for cached Exchange mode, Microsoft Outlook works with a local stored copy of your user data from Exchange Server. By configuring Microsoft Outlook to cached Exchange mode, your iPhone or iPod touch will sync all of your Microsoft Outlook contacts to the device.
