Windows Vista

iTunes 7.6 or later is supported with any 64-bit edition of Windows Vista. If you are using 7.5 or earlier, some features may or may not work correctly.

Follow these steps if you're not sure what version of Windows you have.

You can find this by choosing Start > Control Panels > System. Look for an identifier in the window that appears that says "system type"; if the value says "64 bit edition," make sure you're using iTunes 7.6 or later.

Note: The installer for 64-bit Vista is named iTunes64Setup.exe instead of iTunesSetup.exe. If you download the iTunes installer from iTunes.com using Vista 64 and the file is iTunesSetup.exe, your browser is likely not correctly identifying the OS as being Vista 64. Try downloading iTunes again using a different browser, like Internet Explorer.

Windows XP

iTunes is currently not supported in Windows XP Professional x64 Edition. Features may or may not work correctly. One example is reading or writing to an optical drive (CD-ROM, CD-RW, DVD-ROM, DVD-RW). It's also possible iTunes for Windows may not successfully install.

Follow these steps if you're not sure what version of Windows you have.

Open "My Computer" and choose About Windows from the Help menu. Look for an identifier that indicates "x64 edition" in the window that appears.

Windows 2000
